Leinel posts prosecutor’s recommendation after former GMA News colleague Athena Imperial filed complaints against Waje.

Nico Waje’s wife Leinel has shared a document recommending the dismissal of the acts of lasciviousness complaint filed against her husband by his former GMA News colleague Athena Imperial.

Leinel shared a screenshot of the document in a Facebook Story visible only to her friends. Radar accessed the post through a Facebook account connected to Leinel. Her Facebook profile is currently locked.

The screenshot shows a portion of the document stating that the complaint for acts of lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code and alleged violation of Section 16(c), Article IV of Republic Act No. 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act, against Waje be dismissed.

The screenshot shared by Leinel in her Story does not show the document’s signatory or otherwise establish whether the recommendation has been adopted as a final resolution by the prosecutor.

Hours after Radar broke the story, Leinel shared another portion of the resolution in this post’s comments section, dated July 20 and signed by the city prosecutor and senior assistant city prosecutor.

Imperial filed complaints for acts of lasciviousness and gender-based sexual harassment against Waje before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on May 13.

Waje submitted his counter-affidavit on June 19, accompanied by Leinel and his legal counsel, Atty. Leo Lalusis. Lalusis said at the time that the case had been submitted for resolution following the filing.

Imperial may still seek reconsideration or pursue other remedies available under the law.

Imperial has previously said she chose to pursue legal remedies after what she described as a difficult decision and asked the public to allow authorities to handle the proceedings “without speculation or prejudgment.”

Other than what Leinel shared in her Story or commented on Radar’s report, a copy of the final resolution dismissing the complaint has not been made public as of press time.
