Insiders claim tensions rose after the actor-host took on major TV5 projects without clearance, leading to an alleged fallout with BNC management.
Sources say his new TV5 public affairs show may have triggered a fallout with management.
Whispers are circulating in media circles that actor-host Mateo Guidicelli has been let go by Bilyonaryo News Channel (BNC) following an alleged conflict over his growing involvement with TV5’s News and Public Affairs division.
According to sources, the tension began after BNC executives learned that Guidicelli had accepted a hosting role in TV5’s new Thursday night public affairs program without first securing management’s approval. He is also hosting “Patriots,” a 13-episode documentary series produced by News5 and Cignal TV.
The development reportedly caught some BNC decision-makers by surprise.
Insiders claim management felt the actor-host had “double-crossed” the channel by taking on a major project for TV5’s News and Public Affairs arm—particularly a new Thursday night program alongside veteran journalists Julius Babao and Ces Drilon—while remaining one of BNC’s prominent on-air personalities.
By Friday, sources said the situation had escalated to the point that Guidicelli was allegedly removed from the network.
The reported fallout comes as a surprise to some observers because Guidicelli was said to have personally sought a role at BNC when he began exploring opportunities in broadcasting. Following the expiration of his contract with GMA Public Affairs, he transitioned into news and magazine programming, joining BNC’s flagship newscast “Agenda” as a lifestyle, sports, and entertainment anchor while also hosting the weekly interview program “Matteo G. Primetime.”
His profile quickly grew within the channel. “Matteo G. Primetime” featured conversations with high-profile personalities including Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos, Piolo Pascual, Erwan Heussaff, and Julia Barretto, helping establish him as one of BNC’s most recognizable faces.
At the same time, Guidicelli’s ties with TV5 have become increasingly visible. Aside from hosting “Patriots,” he is also set to appear in the upcoming TV5 drama “A Secret in Prague.”
“Patriots” carries particular significance because it falls under the News5 public affairs banner rather than traditional entertainment programming. Hosted by Guidicelli in his capacity as a Philippine Army reservist, the series highlights stories of courage and service within the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Neither Guidicelli nor BNC has publicly addressed the reports as of writing.
For now, the question remains unanswered: Was Mateo Guidicelli truly fired from Bilyonaryo News Channel—or is there more to the story than the whispers suggest?
