It all comes down to this. Today, Team Liquid PH and Team Falcons PH go head-to-head in the Grand Finals of MPL Philippines Season 17.
The stakes are higher than ever, but the pressure of making it to the world stage is already off: Both teams have officially punched their tickets to Paris for the MSC at the Esports World Cup 2026.
A recap of their regular season run
These two absolutely ran the regular season. Team Liquid PH cruised to the top seed with a staggering 13–1 record, dropping only six individual games the entire season as they chase a historic three-peat. Team Falcons PH weren’t far behind at 12–2, putting up their most dominant regular season run to date and cementing themselves as the ultimate challengers.
What makes this even better is how perfectly matched they are. Liquid’s only series loss of the entire regular season was a tight 1–2 battle against the Falcons back in Week 6. On the flip side, the Falcons’ very first slip-up of the split was handed to them by Liquid in Week 2. They’ve traded blows, they know each other’s tendencies, and now they have the ultimate stage to settle the tiebreaker.
The playoffs have been an absolute rollercoaster, and their paths to this rematch couldn’t have been more different.
Titans of the playoffs
Team Liquid PH didn’t waste any time proving why they earned the top seed. They cruised through the upper bracket, dismantling Smart Omega in a quick 3–0 sweep before taking down ONIC Philippines 3–1 in the upper bracket finals, securing a seat straight to the grand finals.
Team Falcons PH, on the other hand, had to take the scenic route—and it tested their resilience. After a shocking 0–3 sweep by ONIC PH dropped them directly to the lower bracket on Day 2, the Falcons had their backs against the wall. But instead of crumbling, they went on a furious redemption run. They eliminated Smart Omega 3–1, and then, in a high-stakes lower bracket final rematch against Fnatic ONIC PH, they exacted revenge with a grueling 4–2 victory to claw their way back to the top.
Now the question is, will the Cavalry keep their era going, or are the Falcons about to disrupt the hierarchy?
