Panginoon ng Kababawan sparks book wave with #ProjectLibrengLibro

Instead of recently controversial gadget giveaways, content creator Panginoon ng Kababawan (Adam Domingo) gears up to make reading the next big trend.

The popular influencer recently launched #ProjectLibrengLibro, a passion project aimed at boosting reading comprehension that has quickly snowballed into a community-driven movement.

The initiative started as a simple, personal pledge. Choosing books over expensive iPhones, the “Drags to Riches” actor committed to personally purchasing and giving away three English books—ranging from fiction to academic titles—every single payday.

The project already saw its first batch of lucky followers take home their requested reads, with netizens Jessica Vi receiving “Project Hail Mary,” Neil Belarmino getting a law codal, and Marian Teruel Gamas scoring “Dosage of Serotonin.”

However, the creator’s solo effort quickly triggered a powerful “Bayanihan effect” among his followers. Celebrating the milestone, he recently announced that in less than seven days since the launch, #ProjectLibrengLibro has received over 300 book donations from generous supporters across Luzon, with fans from Bulacan, Pateros, Manila, Parañaque, Rizal, Batangas, Cavite, and Muntinlupa all chipping in.

The creator clarified that this massive community outpouring is entirely separate from his ongoing, out-of-pocket payday pledge. With books flooding in, the creator and his supporters are already mapping out how to get these stories into readers’ hands.

While a portion of the donations will be given directly to future draw winners, Panginoon ng Kababawan revealed he is currently in talks with a non-profit organization to establish “Project Libreng Libro Aklatan” branches. 

These small community hubs will serve as permanent homes for the incoming surge of donated titles.
