Monique Lhuillier delivers two standout wedding looks for Emma Roberts

US-based Filipino designer crafts “Vintage Rose” gown and edgy after-party ensemble for Hollywood star’s dreamy Idaho wedding.

Monique Lhuillier has once again solidified her status as Hollywood’s premier bridal visionary, designing two distinct, unconventional wedding looks for American actress Emma Roberts’ July 25 nuptials to actor Cody John in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Working closely with Roberts over a nine-month period, the Cebu-born, US-based Filipino designer brought the star’s vintage-inspired vision to life with a custom silk chiffon gown—a global success story Filipinos continue to take pride in.

Devoting nearly 1,000 hours to the craft, Lhuillier used 25 yards of fabric hand-dyed in a color called “The Vintage Rose,” a nod to the bride’s middle name Rose, to achieve a delicate, tea-stained effect.

The ethereal creation featured an exposed-boning corset, a flowing split skirt, and a versatile French lace shawl that transformed the gown into a sleek strapless silhouette for the reception.

Lhuillier’s styling impact extended into the after-party, where she pulled an archival black two-piece ensemble from her Fall 2004 collection for Roberts. Combining a Chantilly lace corset with a hand-cut silk organza skirt, the look showcased the designer’s signature balance of timeless craft and modern edge.

Spanning three decades in the fashion industry, Lhuillier remains the ultimate authority for high-profile nuptials. Her roster of celebrity brides includes international icons like Britney Spears, Reese Witherspoon, and Sophia Bush, alongside beloved Philippine stars such as Anne Curtis, Lea Salonga, and Georgina Wilson.
