The Philippine peso snapped its record-low streak while local equities notched modest gains, keeping the PSEi above the 6,000 threshold.
Philippine financial markets saw a slight reprieve on Thursday, September 3, 2026, as the Philippine peso pulled back from its all-time low and the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) posted modest gains.
The PSEi advanced 16.19 points, or 0.27%, to close at 6,069.42, reversing the losses recorded in the previous session.
The benchmark held above the 6,000 level for the second consecutive day, maintaining the core of its recovery following sharp gains earlier in the week.
Peso rebounds from record low
Meanwhile, the Philippine peso gained nearly 5 centavos to close at ₱62.52 against the US dollar, rebounding from its previous record low of ₱62.565 set on Wednesday.
The local currency touched an intraday high of ₱62.56, strengthening by 13 centavos from the previous session’s peak weakness of ₱62.69, though it remained held above the ₱62 mark.
Thursday’s session signaled a slight stabilization across local markets. The PSEi managed a modest uptick following Wednesday’s pullback, while the peso briefly eased off its record low, giving both equities and the local currency a breather from recent selling pressure.
