First leg in Visayas brings together race, entertainment, and essential grocery rewards for participants.

Puregold kicked off its Hakot Relay 2026 in Iloilo on April 25, turning Iloilo Sunset Boulevard into a mix of race, concert, and community experience with a practical edge.

The opening leg drew participants from across the Visayas including Bacolod, Cebu, Antique, and other parts of Panay, all joining the relay’s signature format. Live performances from Skusta Clee and Flow G added to the energy, but for many, the main draw was what they brought home after the run, including groceries and essential household items.

That combination of entertainment and practical support continues to define the Hakot Relay. With fuel and basic goods still weighing on household budgets, the event positioned itself as both a shared experience and a way for participants to bring home real value.

Groceries on the go

Puregold president Vincent Co said the initiative is designed to balance enjoyment with everyday relevance for Filipino families.

“We want to create experiences that bring people together while also delivering real value to our communities, something that reflects what Puregold stands for,” Vincent Co said.

On the ground, the event featured organized race waves, loot stations, and surprise item drops along the course, adding structure and excitement to the relay format.

Participants finished with medals, grocery bags, and event merchandise, with many treating the takeaways as practical support rather than simple giveaways.

Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad said the response in Iloilo set the tone for the rest of the series.

“We’re happy to introduce the Hakot Relay to more regions this year, starting with the Visayas. It’s our way of giving back by creating something people can enjoy collectively, while also helping in a simple but meaningful way,” she said.

With Iloilo as the first of three stops, the Hakot Relay 2026 continues to South Luzon and Metro Manila, expanding a nationwide series that brings community participation together with everyday utility for Filipino households.
