Expanded discounts and barangay-level delivery aim to help small retailers manage rising costs and keep shelves stocked.

Puregold is putting real numbers behind its push to strengthen sari-sari stores, with its Tindahan ni Aling Puring program now at 1.06 million members nationwide. Growth has been picking up fastest across Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, pointing to how quickly the network is expanding beyond major urban centers.

Protecting the margins: Dealskarte and bulk savings

Alongside its Sari-Sari Store Convention this May, Puregold is expanding Case Deals and Dealskarte Bundles to help store owners protect their margins, while also rolling out close to 1,000 account representatives who bring inventory directly to barangays. That setup cuts down on transport costs and makes restocking less of a logistical strain, which can spell the difference between stable earnings and daily uncertainty.

“At this year’s Aling Puring Convention, we salute our sari-sari stores as an indispensable pillar of Filipino society. At a time when we bear the impact of price hikes, sari-sari stores shine as an extension of Puregold, a reliable ally of Filipino families who need to stretch their budget. That’s why we have made it our core mission to support these micro-entrepreneurs,” said Vincent Co, Puregold president.

A lifeline beyond urban centers

The convention itself brings together store owners from across the country, with a lineup of activities designed to combine business insights with practical tools they can apply on the ground. Sessions with industry experts are expected to focus on helping participants navigate rising costs, adapt to shifting demand, and strengthen day-to-day operations.

Puregold said these efforts are part of a broader push to respond to the rising cost of doing business for sari-sari store owners, many of whom continue to operate on thin margins while serving as primary access points for daily essentials in their communities.

Partners in growth

“For Puregold, sari-sari store owners are not just customers; they are partners in economic growth. Through the Aling Puring program, we equip them to thrive so that they are able to serve their own families, as well as play their critical role in communities: a lifeline during the most challenging times,” Vincent Co said.

Taken together, the effort underscores how sari-sari stores continue to anchor everyday spending across the country. Keeping them stocked and viable helps sustain both household access to essentials and the small businesses that communities rely on.
