Sampaloc Lake: 3.7 km of sunrise, snacks, and slow Sundays

Sunday plans don’t always need a long drive. At Sampaloc Lake in San Pablo City, Laguna, mornings begin with fabulous sunrises reflecting off the water, while afternoons settle into an easy, unhurried pace.

Sampaloc Lake is the biggest—and arguably the most famous—among the Seven Lakes of San Pablo. The roughly 3.7-kilometer loop doubles as a shared space for joggers, bikers, families, and snack hunters making regular stops along the way. 

Expect everything from binatog and kikiam to fresh buko juice, alongside flower vendors and several lakeside restaurants perfect for long, casual meals. 

For years, most activity clustered on one side of the lake, but ongoing city government improvements are gradually opening up more areas, making larger portions of the lakeshore more accessible and visitor-friendly, ideal for slow walks and Sundays that don’t try too hard.
