Beyond the pristine shores of the Bongao-Simunul-Panampangan triangle lies a peaceful frontier where the Philippine Marines ensure traveler safety and the local culture remains beautifully preserved.

With 82 provinces and 7,641 islands (and counting), the Philippines is something that you can not fully explore in a lifetime. But from time to time, you will see a stunning landscape and an intriguing resort that makes you want to pack your bags and book your travel today.

Tawi-Tawi is it. Content creator Philter Daños takes viewers inside Bihing Tahik Resort in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi through a walkthrough video reel and the internet is obsessed. He begins by saying Tawi-Tawi is the far south of the Philippines with great, pristine beaches and affordable prices.

He shows us Bihin Tahik’s amenites: Inspired by the giant clam shells of the Celebes Sea, the resort’s undulating roof uses locally sourced rattan and specialized wood that turns black when wet.

South’s safest coastal sanctuary

Just by the sheer view of the sea, beach, amazing tropical resort architecture and accommodations with reasonable prices, we are quite sold but the biggest question still in our minds is safety.

True enough, the Bongao-Simunul-Panampangan triangle is actually considered a safe haven where Philippine Marines often act as unofficial guides. Mandatory registration at the Bongao Tourism Office and respecting the conservative Muslim culture are also a-must for tourists.

If you stick to the established tourist route like a hike in Bud Bongao mountain or a quick boat ride to Panampangan Island, home to the Philippines’ longest sandbar at over three kilometers, then Tawi-Tawi offers a high-reward, peaceful experience that official advisories haven’t quite caught up to yet.
