From mall-based fun runs to highway-scale races, SM Active Hub drives a growing calendar of inclusive running events .across the Philippines.
SM Supermalls is helping turn running into one of the country’s biggest shared weekend rituals, drawing thousands of Filipinos into races that now spill out of malls and onto major city routes.
When more than 25,000 runners filled EDSA for the Galaxy Manila Marathon, they became part of a growing calendar of events that has steadily expanded nationwide, connecting fitness, community, and large scale urban spaces.
The marathon marked a milestone moment, with runners crossing a landmark route linking SM Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA, passing key city points including SM Megamall and Guadalupe Bridge before looping back to MOA. The stretch turned one of Metro Manila’s busiest corridors into a space for endurance, visibility, and shared experience.
Across the year, SM has built momentum through races such as the Earth Day Run, Star Wars Run, Doraemon Run, Women’s Run PH, multiple legs of the Sante Barley Trilogy Run Asia, as well as pet-friendly and community runs that open participation to a wide range of runners, from first timers to seasoned athletes.
Through SM Active Hub, these events extend into a structured platform that connects training, recovery, race participation, and community engagement, giving runners year-round access to organized fitness experiences across SM properties.
Major events such as Pride Run, SM2SM Run in Cebu, Singlife Cebu International Marathon, Singlife Iloilo Marathon, HOKA Midnight Run Asia, Decathlon Run, Pet Express Doggie Run, and Sante Trilogy Run Asia National Finals continue to anchor the calendar, reinforcing SM Supermalls’ growing role in the country’s running landscape.

The diversity of events also shows up in formats, from themed pop culture runs like Star Wars and Doraemon to advocacy-led races such as Pride Run and Earth Day Run, alongside competitive distance events that draw elite and recreational runners on the same course.
Across its network of 90 malls nationwide, SM Supermalls is expected to bring together more than 100,000 runners this year, underscoring how mall spaces are increasingly doubling as entry points to large-scale community sports.
SM Supermalls president Steven Tan said the goal is to make running more accessible, inclusive, and community driven through year-round experiences that go beyond race day.
What sets SM apart is how it builds out the full race experience, from registration and race expos to training support, recovery areas, and post-race activities that extend into dining, retail, and entertainment within mall spaces, turning each event into a broader weekend destination for participants and families alike.
As participation continues to grow, SM Supermalls is positioning itself as one of the most active platforms for organized running in the Philippines, where every finish line connects back to a wider ecosystem of fitness, community, and shared space.
