West End star Gerardine Sacdalan comes home to lead ‘Heathers the Musical’ in Manila

The WhatsOnStage-nominated West End star steps into the iconic role of Veronica Sawyer at Solaire.

Filipino performer Gerardine Sacdalan is returning home to headline the Philippine premiere of Heathers the Musical, running from January 21 to February 7, 2027, at The Theatre at Solaire. Fresh off her acclaimed West End and UK stage runs, Sacdalan will step into the iconic role of Veronica Sawyer.

Sacdalan recently earned a nomination for Best Professional Debut at the 10th Anniversary WhatsOnStage Awards for her performance as Juliet in the UK tour of “& Juliet.” Her London credits also include playing Sandra Beaumont in “Made in Dagenham In Concert” and Frenchie in “Grease: The Immersive Musical.”

An international company for a cult classic

She anchors an international cast bringing the dark social satire to life. Joining her on stage are Louis Hearsey as the rebellious Jason “J.D.” Dean, Liberty Stottor as Heather Chandler, Jessica Ibadin as Heather Duke, and Lou Henry as Heather McNamara.

The visiting company also features Veronica Carabai as Ms. Fleming and Veronica’s Mom, Sophie Manners as Martha Dunnstock, Markus Södergren as Kurt Kelly, and Beau Jackson as Ram Sweeney. John Gurdían plays Ram’s Dad, Big Bud Dean, and Coach Ripper, while Reuben Browne appears as Kurt’s Dad, Veronica’s Dad, and Principal Gowan. The cast is completed by an ensemble including Christian De-Gallerie, Ellouise Delooze, Caitlin Garcia, Alexander Howarth, Charlotte O’Rourke, Thomas Oxley, Tola Sokoya, and Carys Taylor.

Written by Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde) and Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives), the musical adapts the cult 1989 film into a pop-rock production featuring anthems like “Seventeen,” “Candy Store,” and “Dead Girl Walking.” The narrative follows Veronica as she navigates high school popularity, cruelty, and fatal consequences after associating with the school’s ruling clique.
