Melody has been adopted after online backlash over her alleged rehoming during restaurant renovations.

Melody, the stray cat at the center of the Wildflour BGC rehoming controversy, has found a forever home.

Threads user @poishaaaa posted a video of Melody on July 22, thanking volunteer group Cats of BGC for facilitating her adoption.

“It’s only her third day, but she’s already exploring my room and even jumping onto my bed to sleep and cuddle beside me. She’s such a smart (and brave!) girl,” the user wrote.

Melody had become a familiar presence at Wildflour BGC, but netizens noticed on July 5 that her feeding bowls at the restaurant entrance had disappeared. Wildflour then clarified that Melody was temporarily rehomed due to ongoing renovations.

Cats of BGC later announced on July 6 that Melody was up for adoption, which netizens perceived as contradicting the restaurant’s claim of a temporary rehoming. Amid reportedly high interest in adopting Melody, the group appealed to its supporters to also consider adopting their other cats.

The lack of information led netizens to call for a boycott of the restaurant, highlighting how customers value animal welfare and respect for community fixtures when patronizing establishments.
