Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee breaks her silence on the “All Stars” rumors, balancing career growth with the lure of the crown.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee may not be ready to step back into pageantry just yet, but she’s also not ruling anything out.
When asked about the possibility of joining the first-ever Miss Grand International All Stars, the actress and singer offered a measured yet intriguing response.
“Hindi pa ngayon ang tamang panahon for that. Abangan n’yo lang,” Dee said during the OKGames Christmas Carnival in Parañaque City, signaling that while the timing may not be right, the idea remains on the table.
She went on to explain her perspective on returning to competition, calling it a balance of opportunity and risk. “There is a lot of risk. High risk, high reward—I never close doors, though. You assess every opportunity for what it has to offer. You never know. Kaya never ako nagsasara,” she added.
“High risk, high reward”: the logic of a return
Dee also praised the idea of an All Stars edition, echoing the excitement of pageant fans eager to see familiar queens reclaim the spotlight. “It is very smart—very exciting to see our idols back on stage. Anyone, anything—if you’re not done yet, if you still have something left to give,” she said. “That is such an amazing concept, and I’m sure anyone who becomes part of it will see it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
The beauty queen represented the Philippines at Miss Universe in El Salvador, where she finished in the Top 10 and earned several special awards—an achievement that cemented her place on the global pageant stage.
A beauty legacy: from Melanie Marquez to “Reyna”
Pageantry comes naturally to Dee, who hails from a celebrated beauty lineage. She is the daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez and the cousin of actress and beauty queen Winwyn Marquez.
Both appeared in the music video of her debut single “Reyna,” a song centered on confidence, self-love, and owning one’s crown.
High risk, high reward—I never close doors, though. You assess every opportunity for what it has to offer. You never know. Kaya never ako nagsasara.
