MMFF 2025 officially begins with the Parade of Stars, bringing movie magic, celebrity floats, and live performances to the streets in a festive show of Filipino cinema.
The road to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 officially opened with a burst of energy as the annual Parade of Stars turned city streets into a full-blown celebration of Filipino cinema on Dec. 19. Fans gathered early, eager and camera-ready, as floats, film stars, and creatives came together for one of the festival’s most anticipated traditions.
The motorcade rolled out in the early afternoon, covering an extensive route that drew cheers from thousands of spectators along the way. For nearly two hours, the parade served as a moving introduction to this year’s MMFF lineup—part street party, part movie preview—highlighting the spectacle and scale that have long defined the festival.
Front and center were the teams behind the eight official MMFF 2025 entries:
Each float was designed to reflect the tone and theme of its film, offering a visual taste of the drama, humor, romance, action, and suspense that moviegoers can expect during the holiday season.
Authorities coordinated closely to keep the event running smoothly, implementing traffic adjustments and safety measures along the parade route.
With heightened security and crowd control in place, fans were able to enjoy the festivities while maintaining order throughout the celebration.
As the final float made its way through the route, the excitement carried into the evening with a post-parade music event at Circuit Makati Open Park.
With the Parade of Stars setting the mood, the spotlight now shifts to the festival’s awards season.
The Gabi ng Parangal is set for December 27 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati, with nominees across major categories to be announced earlier that day. The jury is led by acclaimed actress and industry stalwart Boots Anson-Rodrigo.
Once again, the MMFF proves that Filipino films are more than holiday entertainment; they are cultural moments shared in the open, celebrated by the very audience they are made for.
