International stars of “Jesus Christ Superstar” dive into Filipino food, c ulture, and Manila adventures.
From pancit cravings to late-night plans in Poblacion, the international cast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” is soaking up the Philippines one bite—and one adventure—at a time.
Grant Hodges (Caiaphas) is all about pancit, while Erich Schleck (ensemble) can’t get over the chicken adobo he once saw cooked fresh: “More flavorful than anything you could imagine in the States.”
For Kodiak Thompson (Annas), it’s turon—simple, sweet, and unforgettable. “Chocolate turon changed my life,” he said during the recent media conference of the show that will run until May 31 at The Theatre in Solaire.
The cast has also gone beyond the usual tourist stops. Kodiak made a trip with some Pinoy friends through local markets via jeepney, up a narrow stairway to a riverside home, where they cooked adobo, chop suey, and pancit. He discovered what he jokingly called “mangoes from God.”
Offstage, some are eyeing a night out in Poblacion, with stops at spots like OnlyPans Taqueria already getting rave reviews. Others are hoping to squeeze in nature trips to Masungi Georeserve or even Taal Volcano—if their schedule allows.
The ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ cast isn’t just performing. They’re diving into Filipino food, culture, and late-night Manila spots.
