Festival opens call for entries only for filmmakers from Western Visayas and Negros Occidental.
CineMatahum is back for its fourth year as it officially opens its call for film submissions, inviting filmmakers from Western Visayas and Negros Occidental to submit original works ahead of its August 5, 2026 deadline.
CineMatahum is an annual film festival and competition hosted by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV). It highlights films, documentaries, and student works created in Western Visayas, serving as a regional platform for emerging and independent voices in cinema.
For its 2026 edition, the festival continues its commitment to strengthening regional storytelling through three categories: Cine Kasilingan for UP Visayas students from high school to graduate level; Cine Barrio for student filmmakers across Western Visayas and Negros Occidental; and Cine Banwa for regional filmmakers beyond academic institutions.
Organizers emphasized that the festival aims to foreground narratives rooted in community experiences, cultural identity, and local perspectives. Participation remains limited to filmmakers from Western Visayas and Negros Occidental.
Submissions are currently being accepted through an official online form, with the deadline set on August 5, 2026.
Interested participants may submit entries via https://forms.gle/oZeFq8JqY6gLj7Qy8.
