From aspiring child actor to OPM star, Gian Bernardino signs with Viva to launch long-awaited acting career.

Long before he became the voice behind some of OPM’s biggest hits, Gian Bernardino had a different dream.

As a child, the Cup of Joe frontman imagined himself on television, even hoping to join the long-running kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit.” Years later, after establishing himself as one of the most recognizable young musicians in the country, he is finally getting the chance to pursue that first ambition.

Gian has officially signed a management contract with Viva Artists Agency (VAA) and a movie contract with Viva Films, marking his long-awaited entry into acting—a path he says has always been part of his plans.

“Meron akong pangarap noon na makasali sa ‘Goin’ Bulilit.’ So even before I discovered na gusto ko rin maging performer, gusto ko munang maging artista,” he shared. “It’s definitely one of my plans, entering the industry.”

For Gian, the move is less about stepping away from music and more about embracing another side of his artistry. While many know him as the frontman of one of the country’s biggest pop acts, he has long envisioned a career that extends beyond music.

“Ever since, ang pinaka prinsipyo ko as a person is that I want to live for the arts. So, ito ‘yong gusto kong gawin hanggang sa pagtanda ko,” he explained.

Rather than treating acting as a side project, Gian sees it as an opportunity to grow and evolve as a performer.

“I won’t treat it as a distraction. I will treat it as something that would make me a better artist,” he said. “Kung nasimulan ko ‘yong childhood ko as a performer, I want it to be fully realized ngayon na abot-kamay ko na ‘yong mga ganyang opportunities.”

The transition comes as Cup of Joe continues to enjoy remarkable success, making his move into acting a notable next step in an already thriving career.

While balancing music and film may present new challenges, Gian remains committed to pursuing both passions.

“It would definitely be challenging, pero I won’t let it be a distraction to music,” he added.
