Singer addresses management split, heartbreak rumors, and why she’s choosing boundaries and music over dating for now.

Now steering her career with her own team, Moira dela Torre admits the transition hasn’t been easy, but it’s a step she believes is necessary to reach bigger dreams.

After nine years under Cornerstone Entertainment Inc., the singer parted ways with the talent agency in 2024, a move that quickly stirred online speculation as details surrounding the split remained unclear.

In an interview with radar Entertainment during the 17th Star Awards for Music held at Teatrino Promenade last June 25, Moira expressed her gratitude to her former management, assuring that she will always appreciate everything they have done for her career.

“Syempre mahirap, but you just have to start somewhere. I will always carry all the lessons that I’ve learned from my previous management. I will always be grateful that they believed in me and took good care of me all those times,” she said.

When asked if there is a chance she and her former management will talk before moving forward, the singer admitted that such a conversation has yet to happen.

“Not yet at the moment, but I’m praying soon.”

Moira earned the Female Recording Artist of the Year award and said she feels deeply inspired by the recognition from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).

“Laging napakalaking karangalan to be given an award from PMPC. Napakasaya ko rin na nakapunta ako. This is actually not my first from PMPC, so I’m just very thankful that I got to thank all of you in person. Maraming salamat po,” she said.

Moira also closed the event as its finale performer, singing her hit track “San Ka Na.” With its emotional lyrics about heartbreak, many have speculated that the song is connected to her failed marriage with ex-husband Jason Marvin.

“Siguro as a musician, as an artist and as a songwriter, kahit anuman ang ilabas natin na kanta, the moment it’s out in the public, it’s not ours anymore. It’s public already, so people are going to say what they want to say. It’s going to be open to everyone’s interpretation, so that’s not mine anymore,” she explained.

Moira dela Torre, the “Hugot Queen,” captivates listeners as she turns heartbreak into healing through music, growth, and emotional storytelling.

Dubbed the “Hugot Queen,” Moira said she remains grateful for the label, which reflects her signature heartbreaking ballads.

“It’s a great honor that people still relate to my music and find company in the songs that I create, kahit medyo matagal akong nawala. Nakakataba pa rin ng puso, and I’m thankful and excited to share my new music with them,” she said.

When asked how her heart is doing now and whether she is open to falling in love again, Moira shared that her current focus is on creating music and learning to set boundaries.

“I’m good. I’m okay, and I feel everyone is okay—everyone is better. I think time heals a lot of wounds. Everyone grows, everyone matures, and I know I still have a long way to go, but I’ve also come so far. I just want to live my life. Ayaw ko namang magsabi ng ‘no more,’ but I want to make music. I want to enjoy what I do.

“Dating? I just want to learn how to say ‘no,’ set boundaries, and pursue my music while protecting my little world, so I can always have something to come home to.”
