The future interchange will link the Metro Manila Subway and North-South Commuter Railway, with construction targeted for completion by 2031 and full operations expected by 2033.

Daily commutes across southern Metro Manila could eventually become faster and more convenient after Filinvest Land turned over a 6,000-square-meter property in Bicutan to the Department of Transportation for the construction of a station linking two of the country’s biggest rail projects.

The future Bicutan Station will serve as an interchange between the 147-kilometer North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and the Metro Manila Subway, allowing passengers to transfer between the two systems at one location instead of relying on multiple modes of transport.

For commuters traveling between Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon, the integrated station is expected to shorten travel times once the railway network is fully operational.

In a statement, Filinvest said it also plans to build a pedestrian link connecting the station to its nearby property. The project includes an elevated footbridge over East Service Road and a covered walkway leading directly to the station, allowing commuters to move between transport terminals and train platforms while staying protected from rain and heat.

The company said the 5.8-kilometer railway segment that includes the Bicutan and Sucat stations is expected to generate around 350,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and operations. These opportunities will range from engineering and construction to rail operations, maintenance, and retail.

Construction of the Bicutan Station is targeted for completion by 2031, while full system operations are expected by 2033, when the integrated railway network is projected to serve about one million passengers daily.
