As AI-style content has become more common on social media, small businesses are finding more innovative ways to market their brand. In Iloilo, a local diner known for its smash burgers and chicken satay is drawing attention for its kilig-filled Facebook Reels with highly polished visuals and uncanny facial features.
Now on its second episode, the series follows the budding romance between a male diner and the restaurant’s female server. The first episode had many commenters demanding for “Part 2.”
It is unknown whether more episodes—and how many of them—will be published.
The business, known for its smash burgers and chicken satay, has consistently produced comedic and story-driven reels across platforms to engage local audience and attracting customers.
The restaurant has not publicly stated whether AI was used in producing the videos. However, a watermark associated with Google Gemini—a four-point “spark”—can be seen.
Still, the campaign reflects how small businesses are increasingly experimenting with formats like cinematic short-form to stand out in crowded digital spaces.
Many food service businesses lean into humor to connect with audiences. The Puerto Princesa-based Nomnom Comfort Food, for instance, has built a following by regularly posting satirical workplace announcements, fake public advisories, and self-deprecating memes. Its intro page even reads, “We deliver FOOD and MEMES.”
Brewing Point Neighborhood Café in Quezon City recently went viral with its high-energy barista dance video—showcasing how both live performance and digital tools can be used to stand out.
AI has also become more visible across digital media and entertainment. Recently, fully AI-created P-pop group HALO made its debut. The project drew mixed reactions, with some praising the innovation and others questioning its authenticity.
Unlike those debates, however, much of the attention surrounding the Iloilo diner’s miniseries has focused on the story itself rather than how it was produced. Viewers have taken to the comments section to express their kilig and appreciation.
Whether created with conventional production methods, AI, or a combination of both, the miniseries shows how small businesses must be inventive enough online to turn casual viewers into potential customers.
