Miss Universe Philippines 2020 begins Doctor of Medicine journey after a top NMAT score and lifelong dream to become a doctor.
Former beauty queen Rabiya Mateo has officially begun a new chapter in her life after securing admission to the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 titleholder recently received her official acceptance letter and has now officially enrolled at the university, as shown in a screenshot of her enrollment portal.
“Hello Thomasian, RABIYA! You’re now officially enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas,” the portal read.
The milestone marks the beginning of her journey toward fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.
As she embarks on medical school, Rabiya shared that she will be taking a temporary break from the entertainment industry to dedicate her time and energy to her studies.
Before entering show business, the Ilongga beauty graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Iloilo Doctors’ College. She also recently achieved an impressive General Performance Score of 741 on the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), placing her in the 99th percentile nationwide.
Rabiya previously revealed that her decision to pursue medicine was inspired by her father, a physician, while studying at the University of Santo Tomas had long been one of her biggest aspirations.
She also shared that her years in the entertainment industry enabled her to save enough to finance her medical education independently.
With her enrollment now complete, Rabiya officially begins her journey as a medical student, taking another significant step toward one day earning the title of Dr. Rabiya Mateo.
