The actress recalls the “parang pelikula” moment, says faith keeps relationships strong and vows to continue acting after marriage.
Despite their plan to tie the knot next year, it was still a big surprise for Therese Malvar when her longtime partner, filmmaker Jaime Morados, proposed to her last June. Both of them announced their engagement on Instagram, featuring a movie-like proposal with their respective families and close friends.
In radar Entertainment’s interview with Therese at the recent 9th Entertainment Editors’ Choice Awards, she shared the happiness she felt during the proposal.
“Sobra, as in, kasi akala ko ang excuse niya ay may event. At saka sobrang kalmado niya buong araw. Nagulat ako, bigla na lang andoon ang family ko. Doon ako naiyak. Heto na pala ‘yon, ang pinangarap namin na finally nasa wedding era na kami.”
According to the Kapuso actress, next year is really her target year to get married, especially since she knows that they are prepared to build their own family.
“We already knew naman na this year would be the year na mae-engage kami kasi ang plan namin is kasal na talaga next year. Since I’ll be 27 and then that is my dream age. We are already mentally, emotionally, and financially preparing ourselves this year for our wedding talaga.
“I just didn’t know when the proposal was and how. When I heard our theme song, and then our exhibit-like play, sobrang naiyak talaga ako. Pero nang lumuhod siya, parang legit ‘yong nasa isip ko, ‘Hala! Parang pelikula. Parang may camera somewhere.’ Ang nasa isip ko, kailangan kong gandahan ‘yong reaction kasi may video, kaya nagpipigil ako ng talon, pero sobrang saya ko talaga.”

The wedding will take place in April next year, which is also the fourth anniversary of their relationship.
For Therese, having God at the center of their relationship is the secret to their strong and long-lasting bond as partners.
“Sa April kasi ‘yon ang anniversary namin. Magfo-four years na kami. I think it’s really when you center your relationship with God, do’n talaga mas lalalim ‘yong relationship n’yo, ‘yong intentions n’yo sa isa’t isa.”
When asked if acting would take a backseat once she becomes Mrs. Morados, Therese said everything will remain the same when it comes to her showbiz career. “‘Di ako magla-lie low. I’m still going to continue acting, producing and everything, lalo na sobrang suportado ang GMA sa process na ‘yon.”
She declared: “Tuloy pa rin ang buhay namin. It won’t be a hindrance for both of our careers.”
