New price caps set maximum pick-up fees based on vehicle type and the distance drivers travel before a trip begins.
Pick-up fees for ride-hailing cars are once again subject to price caps after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) revived limits aimed at curbing surge pricing.
The LTFRB revived price caps on pick-up fees charged by transport network vehicle services (TNVS). These fees are based on the distance drivers travel to reach passengers before a trip begins.
Similar temporary measures were first implemented in December 2025 amid widespread reports of surge pricing.
According to the agency, the move aims to help offset drivers’ fuel costs while ensuring fair pricing for customers. However, the revised limits may discourage drivers from accepting passengers whose pick-up points are farther than 5 km.
Here are the new pick-up fee caps for different TNVS vehicle types:
- Hatchback/sub-compact vehicles will have a pick-up fee cap of ₱24 within a 1-km radius, ₱48 within 2 km, ₱72 within 3 km, ₱96 within 4 km, and ₱120 within 5 km.
- Sedan-type TNVS vehicles are capped at ₱26 within 1 km, ₱52 within 2 km, ₱78 within 3 km, ₱104 within 4 km, and ₱130 within 5 km.
- AUVs and SUVs are limited to ₱29 within 1 km, ₱58 within 2 km, ₱87 within 3 km, ₱116 within 4 km, and ₱145 within 5 km.
- Premium TNVS may charge up to ₱58 within 1 km, ₱116 within 2 km, ₱173 within 3 km, ₱231 within 4 km, and ₱289 within 5 km.
