Veteran stars set high standards as Gen Z cast steps up in ‘You’re My Favorite Song’

Boboy Garrovillo, James Blanco, Katya Santos, Wilma Doesnt push discipline as young actors face pressure in daily series grind.

Veteran actors are guiding a new generation of stars in “You’re My Favorite Song,” as its Gen Z cast navigates the demands of daily television.

Heath Jornales, Marco Masa, Clifford, and Caprice Cayetano lead the younger lineup, bringing high energy that is matched by experienced co-stars Boboy Garrovillo, James Blanco, Katya Santos, and Wilma Doesnt.

For Blanco, the dynamic feels familiar. The actor said working with the younger cast reminds him of his own early years in showbiz.

“Nakaka-excite kasi ang taas ng energy ng mga bata, so kailangan sabayan mo sila… Ganon din ako kakulit [before], parang ‘di nababawasan ng energy,” he said.

Santos, who describes the project as a “dream,” emphasized the supportive environment on set. She plays Mama Bebe, a mother who becomes a virtual assistant for her daughter Angel, portrayed by Cayetano.

“It’s another family na magaan katrabaho,” Santos said, adding that the set’s light and fun atmosphere was something she had hoped for.

She also praised Cayetano’s instinct as an actress, noting that the younger star brings out genuine emotions in their scenes.

Garrovillo echoed the optimism, expressing confidence in the younger cast’s future. “The future is so bright for them. They can reach the stars, some will reach the moon,” he said, while encouraging them to remain committed to honing their craft.

For Doesnt, professionalism is key to longevity. She advised the younger actors to value time and respect their colleagues on set. “Be professional,” she said. “I-value natin ‘yung time lalo na ng mga kasama natin,” she said.

Despite the generational gap, the cast shares a common goal of telling a story that resonates with viewers. Santos said the series reflects universal aspirations of achieving a better life through hard work and sincerity.

“Maraming makaka-relate dito kasi lahat tayo nangarap magkaroon ng magandang buhay… with a kind heart, with a pure heart,” she said.

“You’re My Favorite Song” airs weekdays at 4 PM on GMA Afternoon Prime, with streaming available via Kapuso Stream and international broadcasts on GMA Pinoy TV.
