“It’s Showtime” hosts address backlash over missed mention, with Vice slamming “kacheapan” and Kim urging understanding for protective fans.

A simple acknowledgment on Its Showtime turned into an online discussion after fans revisited Vice Ganda’s acceptance speech at the FAMAS Awards, where the noontime program won its first Best Variety Show trophy and Vice was named Best Host for Entertainment.

During Tuesday’s live episode of Its Showtime, Vice took the opportunity to address the matter on air by congratulating the show’s staff and co-host Kim Chiu, admitting that she forgot to mention Kim’s name during her acceptance speech.

“And congratulations sa lahat ng Showtime staff. Kim Chiu, congratulations to us. Nakalimutan ko banggitin ang pangalan mo kahapon,” Vice said.

Kim responded with a laugh, joking that she was already used to being left unmentioned.

“Tsaka sanay na akong hindi nababanggit,” she jokingly said.

She then recalled a recent episode of the noontime show involving a pedicab driver who wrote a heartfelt letter to the hosts but did not include her name.

“Hindi ba? Days ago.”

Vice quickly responded in jest, saying,

“Hindi siya nababanggit pero pinasasalamatan siya ng personal.”

While the exchange appeared lighthearted, it drew mixed reactions from viewers online. Several fans questioned why Kim, one of the show’s longtime main hosts, was omitted from the acceptance speech while some newer hosts were acknowledged.

One netizen wrote, “Strange how someone could forget to mention her name when she’s an essential part of the show, one of the main hosts while the newer ones were mentioned.”

Vice later reacted to the criticism, calling out what she described as the “toxicity” of some fans.

Another netizen also expressed disappointment, writing, “So disappointed @/vicegandako. She’s one of the reasons why we are watching @/itsShowtimeNa. Really? Yung mga newly added hosts na-mention then siya nakalimutan because wala kang prompter? Clearly favoritism at its finest.”

Vice responded, “Grabe the kacheapan of these fans! Look.”

As the exchange continued to gain attention on X, Kim decided to release a statement, urging everyone not to escalate the issue and asking for understanding toward her supporters.

“Ayaw ko na sanang palakihin ito. Pero bilang mga taga-supporta, hindi naman siguro ka-cheapan ang tawag doon. Siguro po marahil sa sobrang pagmamahal at suporta nila sa idolo nila ay protective sila. Initial reaction po siguro ito. Hindi sa tinolerate ko sila pero sana hinayaan na natin ito. Kung wala ang mga taong sumusuporta at lubos na nagmamahal sa atin, wala ring tatangkilik sa lahat ng ginagawa natin.”

Vice also reminded her supporters, known as the “Little Ponies,” to remain respectful despite their loyalty to her.

“Sa aking mga LITTLE PONIES, hindi sapat at katanggap-tanggap na dahilan na mahal n’yo ako para maging masama kayo sa iba. Ipinagpapasalamat ko ang suporta n’yo but I will not enable your toxic behavior just because I seek your support. I love you, my mature and thinking Little Ponies.”

As netizens grew concerned that Vice and Kim might also be at odds, Vice clarified that they are on good terms and have been texting each other.

“Ay, di po kami magkaaway. Magka-message po kami now. As ennn,” Vice said, ending his statement with a kiss and heart emoji.
