Philippine financial markets closed mixed on Tuesday as stocks gave up the previous session’s gains while the peso strengthened for a second straight trading day.

Philippine financial markets ended mixed on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as the stock market posted a slight decline while the peso continued to recover from its recent record low.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped 10.87 points, or 0.17%, to close at 6,304.03, giving up the modest gains recorded in the previous trading session. The index remained above the 6,300 level, suggesting the market continued to trade within a relatively stable range despite the slight pullback.

Peso extends recovery

The Philippine peso strengthened, gaining over 6 centavos to close at ₱61.614 against the US dollar, extending the recovery posted in the previous trading session.

The local currency retained its intraday high of ₱61.76. Still, the second straight day of gains moved the peso farther away from its recent record low, although it continued to trade within the historically weak ₱61 range.

Tuesday’s session reflected diverging movements across Philippine financial markets. While local equities paused after the previous day’s rebound, the peso continued to regain ground against the US dollar, suggesting an improvement in the foreign exchange market even as investors remained watchful of broader economic developments.
