The Philippine Stock Exchange index climbed 167.18 points in July, reaching a monthly high of 6,415.72 before profit-taking pulled the benchmark lower in the final trading sessions.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended July at 6,236.44, up from 6,069.26 at the start of the month, posting a net gain of 167.18 points despite giving up part of its gains during the final trading sessions.
The month opened on a strong footing as the benchmark steadily climbed from just above the 6,000 level. The index posted gains in each of the first six trading sessions, reflecting sustained buying interest and allowing the market to recover further from the volatility seen in previous months.
Momentum continued through the middle of July. The PSEi reclaimed the 6,300 level and reached its monthly high of 6,415.72 on July 20, marking its strongest finish of the month. The rally was supported by a series of higher closes that kept the benchmark comfortably above key psychological levels.
Profit-taking emerged in the second half of the month, slowing the market’s advance. While several sessions produced modest recoveries, these were frequently followed by pullbacks that prevented the index from establishing a sustained climb beyond the 6,400 mark.
The final week reflected this mixed pattern. The benchmark alternated between gains and losses before ending the month with back-to-back declines, slipping below the 6,300 level but remaining well above where it began July.
Overall, July marked another month of recovery for Philippine equities. Although the market lost some momentum toward month-end, the PSEi still finished higher than its opening level, extending its rebound from June and suggesting investor sentiment remained generally constructive despite continued bouts of volatility.
