Kapuso actor draws inspiration for ‘Kamao’ role after watching Eman Pacquiao live and receiving a surprise greeting.
Kapuso actor Anton Vinzon got a boost of inspiration for his lead role after watching Eman Pacquiao fight live—and even receiving a video message from boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
Anton shared that he met Eman while preparing for his role in GMA Prime’s sports drama “Kamao,” where he plays an aspiring boxer. The actor recalled attending one of Eman’s matches, where they were able to talk about the project.
“Sabi niya sa’kin, ‘Ang galing mo,’ referring to ‘Kamao,’” Anton said. “Sabi ko naman, ‘Ikaw ang magaling. Dapat turuan mo ’ko.’”
Eman welcomed the idea, saying he would be open to helping Anton improve his boxing skills if given the chance.
“If ever na may pagkakataon, why not po? Exciting din naman po ’yon eh kasi boxing role or action is my forte,” Eman said.
Anton said connecting with the Pacquiao family meant a lot to him, especially after receiving a video greeting from Manny himself. The gesture, he added, pushed him to work even harder for the role.
Determined to bring authenticity to his character, Anton revealed that he has been training beyond his usual fitness routine and is now learning the fundamentals as a starting professional boxer.
“Kamao” marks Anton Vinzon’s first solo lead project. He plays Makmak, an aspiring amateur boxer chasing his dreams while dealing with personal and family struggles.
