The actor says fans won’t feel threatened as he joins Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera in first film since ‘Rewind.’
Actor Joross Gamboa is set to shake things up as the “third party” in the much-awaited reunion film of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, “Remember,” though he assures fans there’s nothing to worry about.
In a recent interview, Joross teased his role in the Star Cinema project, joking that audiences won’t feel threatened once they see his character.
“Wala naman siguro magse-selos sa akin lalo na kapag nakita niyo iyong role ko, pero bawal pa,” he said.
The actor shared that he has been working closely with director Mae Cruz Alviar to shape a role that will show a fresh side of him onscreen.
“Ngayon siyempre nag-uusap-usap kami nila Direk Mae kung ano pa puwede nating gawin. Nagawa na iyong itsura mo e, lalo na iyong huli. Basta ito, bago na naman ito,” he added.
“Remember” marks Dingdong and Marian’s first film together since the blockbuster #Rewind in 2023. Production kicked off in Quebec, Canada, in June 2026, with a global theatrical release planned.
Often dubbed a “lucky charm” due to the success of his past films, Joross remains grounded, saying he simply feels fortunate to be part of strong projects.
“Blessed lang ako dahil napapasama ako sa magagandang pelikula. I consider this movie, ‘Remember,’ na isa doon sa magagandang pelikula, kaya dapat niyong abangan ’to,” he said.
Asked about the pressure that comes with the label, the actor said he focuses on earning opportunities through hard work.
“‘Yon ang pinagdadasal ko,” he said with a laugh. “Support lang naman ako sa pelikula. Blessed lang ako na nakakasama ako.”
For Joross, every project doubles as an audition for the next.
“Sa akin kasi, kung ano ‘yong last project, ito na iyong audition ko para sa next kong show,” he explained, citing positive reception to past projects as doors to new roles.
Aside from “Remember,” Joross is also gearing up for a lead role in an upcoming father-and-son drama, which is set to premiere internationally ahead of its Philippine release.
Known for his comedic timing, the actor said the project challenged him to tone down the humor and lean into drama.
“Actually dito ayaw nila ako masyadong magpatawa. Situational siya pero drama siya. Ayaw nila ng Joross na may punchline, so tina-try akong kontrolin ng director. Kasi before, drama naman talaga ako nag-start,” he said.
With several projects lined up, Joross continues to expand his range, proving he can move beyond comedy and take on more layered roles.
