Daughter recalls trauma after Senate controversy, says family support helped Nadia recover.

Ynna Asistio opened up about how her family rallied behind her mother, Nadia Montenegro, following the controversy that led to her resignation as political affairs officer in Senator Robin Padilla’s office in August 2025.

The issue stemmed from an incident involving the smell of marijuana in a Senate comfort room, which was later investigated by the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms. In recent interviews, Nadia admitted the ordeal left her deeply traumatized, affecting her mental and emotional well-being.

Ynna told radar Entertainment at the Maddox Jewelry Runway Iconic Fashion Show that the experience marked one of the lowest points in her mother’s life, adding that she and her siblings made sure to surround her with support and reassurance.

“Sobra siyang affected kasi nawalan siya ng trabaho, sobrang tahimik niya noon. ‘Di natin maiiwasan na may mga tao na gustong kumalaban sa’yo. Wala ka nang magagawa doon,” said Ynna.

“For me, support ang pinaramdam namin, at pagmamahal, and no judgment. We know naman kung ano ang totoo, at ‘di namin kailangang i-prove sa buong mundo kung ano ang totoo because lumabas naman kung anuman naman ang totoo, ‘di ba?”

Ynna said their family has always stood by each other even before the controversy, maintaining that same support system through the difficult period.

“For me, kung ano ang support na binigay namin, like ‘yong ginawa namin dati, be there for each other, ibuhos ang pagmamahal na mayroon kami bilang suporta.”

Meanwhile, photos of her sister Sophia reuniting with her father, Baron Geisler, recently circulated online. Despite Nadia previously sharing that she pulled Sophia from Baron’s home due to domestic issues, Ynna expressed happiness over their renewed relationship.

“I’m so happy. It took a long time for them to have a relationship. I know my sister’s happy na may relasyon sila. I’m actually her handler right now, I think because she knows na ano ang pinagdaanan ko rin sa showbiz. I’m sure alam niya we will protect her no matter what happens. I’m really happy for her.”

Ynna, who attended the Maddox Jewelry Iconic Runway Fashion Show, also shared that Maddox CEO Charo Cordial inspired her to start her own jewelry brand.

“This year, nagsimula ako ng jewelry brand ko, Carat Philippines. Si Ms. Charo ang nag-inspire sa akin na ituloy ko ang sarili kong brand,” she declared.
