Nadia Montenegro urges Baron Geisler to protect their daughter Sophia Asistio as online buzz sparks concern over family matters.

Actress Nadia Montenegro remains firm in one thing: her daughter’s well-being comes first.

Nadia said that while Sophia Asistio, her daughter with Baron Geisler, has long moved out of the actor’s home, she is confident that the young actress would never be dragged into her father’s personal issues.

“Matagal nang wala si Sophia sa kanya pero iyong relationship naman nilang mag-ama, clear naman ako doon sa alam kong hindi naman niya siguro idadamay iyong anak ko sa gano’n,” Nadia said in a recent interview with radar Entertainment.

The actress addressed the issue following recent social media posts by Baron’s wife, Jamie Evangelista, which sparked speculation that the actor may have suffered a relapse in his past battle with substance abuse.

Nadia revealed that she immediately reached out to Baron with one clear message: to keep their daughter away from the situation.

“Ayun nga ang text ko sa kaniya sabi ko lang, ‘Ingatan mo si Sophia at ‘wag mo idamay diyan sa gulo niyo. ‘Wag mo rin gagamitin sa mga kung anu-anong problema.’ Very honest naman ako sa kanya, although hindi niya ako sinasagot,” she shared.

Jamie had earlier posted, “Find a drug rehabilitation sponsor who can help you address the root cause of your problems. I doubt a facial can heal that,” a remark that quickly drew public attention and fueled online speculation.

Despite the controversy, Nadia emphasized that her priority remains Sophia’s welfare. She also assured that her daughter continues to maintain a positive and meaningful relationship with her father.

Sophia, she shared, is currently balancing her college education with a budding career in show business.

“First year college siya, she’s doing a good job. Maganda ang grades niya and sideline niya lang ang pag-arte,” Baron said.

The actor also expressed pride in his daughter’s talent, attributing it to both of them. “Siguro nasa dugo namin ni Nadia ang pagarte kaya gifted po si Sophia.”

He added a heartfelt message: “Sophia, I’m very proud of you and I love you.”

While their schedules can get busy, Baron said they continue to stay in touch and maintain a close bond.

Speaking during an ambush interview at the Maddox Jewelry Iconic Runway Diamond Jewelry Edition Fashion Show, Nadia admitted that she and Baron have never formally discussed Sophia’s entry into the entertainment industry.

“Hindi namin napag-uusapan. Hindi rin hindi niya ako sinasagot sa mga text ko,” she said with a laugh.

When asked if she has the final say on decisions involving Sophia’s showbiz career, Nadia answered without hesitation: “Yes.”

Still, she stressed that the choice ultimately belongs to her daughter.

“Kung ano ang gusto ng anak ko.”

Nadia also shared that Sophia previously stayed with Baron for about a year due to school convenience, but has since moved closer to her campus.

“Actually last year pa, one year na tumira si Sophia sa kaniya kasi malapit sa school ni Sophia so okay naman. Ngayon Sophia is living in a different place na nearer sa school niya, hindi na siya doon kay Baron,” she explained.

She also praised her daughter’s versatility, noting how Sophia mirrors her father’s depth in acting.

“In fairness, iyong bata malalim e, para siyang yong tatay niya pagdating sa acting. Kung ano ang gusto niya, mapa-drama, mapa-comedy or whatever kasi kumakanta iyan, sumasayaw. Kung ano ang gusto niya mapa-linya siya, galingan lang niya.”
