The unusually elevated ride has gone viral as flooding continues to disrupt Macabebe communities.
A modified tricycle in Macabebe, Pampanga has drawn both amusement and attention online after a video showed its unusually elevated frame wading through knee-level floodwaters.
The Facebook video, captioned “Only in Macabebe, Pampanga!” shows the modified tricycle with its body raised high enough that, when parked beside a truck, its metal frame appears nearly level with the larger vehicle.
It is unclear whether the tricycle is used for public transport or personal use, but its unusual height points to a more serious problem in Macabebe, where flooding has repeatedly become deep enough to make ordinary vehicles difficult or impossible to use.
In 2019, almost all of Macabebe’s 25 barangays were affected by prolonged flooding, with the municipality declaring a state of calamity after heavy rains from the southwest monsoon and high tides caused roads to become impassable to most vehicles except high-clearance and modified vehicles.
The flooding has remained a recurring problem, with 25 barangays again reported flooded in November 2025 after the Pampanga River overflowed, with water reaching one to five feet during high tides.
Macabebe has also been included in major flood mitigation efforts for the low-lying areas around Pampanga Bay, but flooding continues to disrupt communities during periods of heavy rain and high tide.
