From heartbreak to Century Tuna Superbods, Gee Canlas opens up about finding her confidence, independence and “Muchness” again.
The past year brought one of the biggest upheavals in actress Gee Canlas’ life: the end of her marriage to actor Archie Alemania.
After months of speculation, Gee confirmed in March that she was the one who left the marriage. In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” she described the decision as difficult but deliberate, saying it was not something she did on a whim.
She also made clear that the breakup was not caused by one particular incident. Instead, she described it as “a lot of pieces” that had accumulated over time. She has chosen not to publicly detail those private matters.
What she has been open about, however, is what the experience did to her.
Gee had to navigate heartbreak and major life changes while continuing to work and raise her son, Caleb, as a solo parent, all while parts of her private life were being discussed publicly.
“There was a period when I genuinely felt like I lost myself,” she told radar Entertainment.

Rediscovering herself
It was during this period of upheaval that fitness entered the picture. Gee said it was not about having the perfect body or proving something to an ex. And certainly not about “winning” a breakup.
Fitness became one of the ways Gee found herself again. The gym gave her a place to redirect her thoughts and energy. As her body grew stronger, so did her confidence. Her joy began returning. So did her independence and the parts of her personality she had missed.
Eventually, Gee found herself auditioning for Century Tuna Superbods and becoming one of its finalists. The competition promotes wellness, proper diet and an active lifestyle. It is currently in its final stages after officially introducing its Top 40 finalists early this month.
That journey would become the foundation of Gee’s advocacy: “Rediscover Your Muchness.”
“Muchness,” as Gee explained, is about finding the fullest, bravest, healthiest and most alive version of yourself—the part that can get buried beneath heartbreak, responsibility, fear, failure or simply the demands of everyday life.

More than a revenge body
Gee’s transformation may be physical, but the bigger change happened internally. She said she did not enter Superbods to prove that she had “won” after her separation. She did it for herself.
When a woman emerges from a painful breakup looking stronger, happier and fitter, the easiest story to tell is that she has gotten her revenge. But Gee’s story is less about revenge than reclaiming herself.
She has also found a deeper reason to keep going as a mother. Gee wants Caleb to grow up seeing a mother who did not give up on herself when life became difficult.
“I’m not pretending that everything is perfect. I’m not presenting myself as someone who has already figured everything out. I am simply moving forward,” she said.
Fitness has become part of that rebuilding. It gives her structure and something to work toward. More importantly, it reminds her that she is still capable of becoming someone she has never been before. For her, there is something powerful about discovering that while starting over.
The strongest version of Gee yet
Underneath the comedian and wacky host is an athlete, a competitor and someone capable of tremendous discipline. She is also learning that vulnerability and fierceness can exist in the same person.
Superbods did not create this version of Gee. “It gave me a stage to discover and reveal it,” she pointed out
Gee said the separation may have been one of the most public breaking points of her life, but it does not have to define her story. Because she did not really lose herself forever. She was still there, waiting to be rediscovered.
