Run-down container-van offices look haunted, say netizens.
The Taguig City Hall of Justice has earned the ire of netizens, with many likening it to a horror movie set due to its seemingly run-down facilities housed in container vans.
The condition of the offices came to light after Threads user Cara Gonzalez shared her experience attempting to pay for a traffic violation ticket in Taguig City.
The city’s Traffic Management Office (TMO) can be found within the complex of the Hall of Justice. While the main building is a multi-level concrete structure, the TMO and other units are housed in refurbished container vans, which Gonzalez described as “looking like a crime scene rather than an actual government facility.”
“As a taxpayer, it’s insulting to see this as a government office. It felt unsafe and a complete disservice to the people! Mind you this is the Taguig Hall of Justice! Taguig is ranked 3rd for local revenue generation / tax collection nationwide. So tell me, nasaan ang pera?” Gonzalez wrote in an August 25 post.
The prefab complex has been in operation since at least 2018, with posts from that year sharing similar complaints about the appearance of the offices.
“Taguig Hall of Justice. In Tagalog – batas na may butas. (hall? Baka Container van of justice),” wrote theater actor Myke Salomon in a 2018 Facebook post, detailing a stressful experience settling a traffic violation.
Images from 2018 show the container van offices in better condition than their current state. Today, the facility features visibly peeling paint, rust, and damaged roofs.
The city announced plans to construct a new Hall of Justice in April this year, repurposing an abandoned project by contractor couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya, who had faced criminal charges over ghost flood control projects. The city has not issued any updates on whether construction has started, or when the project would be completed.
