SB19 Stell gets honest about hidden fears behind his powerful vocals

“Alam naman natin ‘pag sinabing Stell, laging sinasabi ng mga tao, ‘Ah, grabe si Stell, kaya niya kantahin ’yan… di pumapalya ’yan,’” he said.

But behind that confidence, he said, are moments when he is scared, too.

“‘Pag mahal mo kasi ang ginagawa mo, kaya mong itago ang nararamdaman mo para lang hindi miaparamdam sa taong mahal mo na may takot ka,” Stell shared.

Addressing his fans directly, he added, “Kahit natatakot ako, tinatago ko ’yon kasi mahal ko kayo.”

Stell also reminded fans that performers are not immune to vulnerability.

“Gets naman na may mga times na ayaw natin ipakita ang weakness natin, ‘yong kahinaan natin, pero guys, tao lang tayo. It’s normal.”

The confession lands differently considering Stell’s reputation as SB19’s “Heavenly Voice.” From starting out through karaoke and competitive dancing to performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, he has built a career around making difficult vocals look effortless.

His viral performance during David Foster’s “Hitman” tour further cemented that image, when he delivered the notoriously difficult power ballad “All By Myself” without prior rehearsal with the band, earning a standing ovation and Foster’s praise.

But for Stell, technical ability does not mean the absence of fear.

One A’TIN responded with a message that perhaps captured what he needed to hear, “Sa mga times na natatakot ka, hindi mo kailangan i-feel ‘yan alone. We got your back.”

Behind the “singing monster” is still a person who gets scared. And perhaps admitting that is its own kind of strength.
