Kuya Kim Atienza and LANS share how SB19’s emotional hit song “MAPA” turned them into devoted fans.
A song about parents had TV personality Kuya Kim Atienza and educational content creator Louise Anne Nagal, popularly known as LANS, talking like two longtime A’TINs.
In an episode of Kuya Kim’s Spotify podcast “Ang buhay ay weather weather LANS!”, the TV personality and educational content creator opened up about how SB19’s “MAPA” turned them into fans of the P-pop group.
For Kuya Kim, it only took one listen. “No’ng una kong narinig ang kantang ‘yan, naiyak ako… Si Pablo, ang galing,” he recalled. “Kinilabutan ako, umiyak ako. After that song of SB19 ‘MAPA,’ naging fan ako.”
LANS shared a similar experience, revealing that the song was also deeply personal to her because she dedicated it to her parents. She said “every line felt like a direct tribute to them,” an emotional connection that eventually made her officially join the A’TIN fandom.
The moment hit differently for netizens, however, given the pair’s previous emotional conversation.
During an episode of “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim!”, Kuya Kim became visibly emotional while speaking with LANS, who reminded him of his late daughter, Emman Atienza.
That context made their latest conversation about “MAPA” even more poignant. What started as a discussion about SB19 became a shared reflection on family, grief, and the people who inspire us to keep going.
And perhaps that is exactly why “MAPA” continues to hit beyond the fandom. One A’TIN summarized it with, “MAPA does not require you to be an A’TIN to understand what it means to come home to the people who raised you.”
