Baby Dolls fire back at critics with new single ‘MEME’ featuring moves for every generation

“It’s Showtime’s” viral dance group Baby Dolls targets critics with their infectious, TikTok-ready new single “MEME.”

The Baby Dolls, the viral dance group from “It’s Showtime,” are turning up the energy with their newest dance single, “MEME,” released September 3.

Following the group’s rise after their debut EP “Zoom Baby Dolls,” the new track leans into the novelty-pop identity that first put the seven-member group on the radar.

Composed of Arianne dela Cruz, Chloe Florendo, Eriel Reyes, Ina Ortega, Johaira Moris, Jelai Ahamil, and Juby Sabino, the Baby Dolls also took part in creating the choreography alongside choreographer Renz Januz Bercasio.

The routine was designed to be infectious and easy to follow, with moves that seemingly bridge generations—from “a cha-cha move for the lolas, disco-inspired steps for the titas, to a TikTok-ready routine for the ates.”

The release comes amid criticism surrounding the group’s singing abilities, reliance on covers, and whether they could sustain their initial viral momentum.

“‘Baby dolls can’t sing’ allegations getting stronger, one hit wonder accusations coming from left and right, audiences mocking them for having only cover songs, the Baby Dolls had ONE CHANCE,” one netizen wrote.

But another saw the group’s response differently, “One thing about Baby Dolls is THEY’RE HUNGRY.”

“MEME” follows the group’s breakout run, with their catalog having generated over 500 million TikTok views and their “#OohhLalaBabyDanceChallenge” spawning more than 6.6 million user-created posts. 

Their earlier single “Oohh Lala Baby” also surpassed 17 million YouTube views and 9.3 million Spotify streams, entering the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 at No. 96.
