About 6.33 million workers were underemployed in July, up from 6.11 million in June, or roughly 220,000 more workers looking for ways to get more work.
The underemployment rate also rose to 12.9% from 12.1% in June, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The increase came as the overall job market also weakened in July. The number of employed Filipinos fell to 49.21 million from 50.66 million in June, while unemployment climbed to 6%.
The figures show that having a job does not always mean having enough work or income. Millions of Filipino workers are still looking for more hours or another source of income as they try to make ends meet.
