One of Metro Manila’s most upscale business districts is reportedly keeping a disturbing secret.
According to persistent whispers making the rounds, a fashionable restaurant inside the district was allegedly held up on a weekend night last month. Diners were reportedly ordered to surrender their wallets, cellphones, watches, and other valuables in what should have been an ordinary evening out.
One detail has particularly caught people’s attention. A customer had allegedly just purchased a luxury watch from a boutique nearby. The timepiece was still sealed inside its original box and paper shopping bag when it, too, was reportedly taken by the robbers.
What has fueled even more speculation is what happened afterward—or rather, what didn’t. Despite the apparent scale of the incident and its prime location, the alleged holdup never surfaced publicly, leaving many wondering why the story seemed to disappear almost as quickly as it happened.
If the story is true, it is a sobering reminder that no place is completely immune to crime. Even the country’s most prestigious business districts and high-end establishments rely not only on their reputation, but also on robust security measures to keep customers safe.
