Rose Van Ginkel takes on mysterious ‘part-time girlfriend’ role

The actress plays a paid companion with secret motives in the psychological short drama series.

Actress Rose Van Ginkel steps into a mysterious role as a woman who gets paid to become someone’s girlfriend in the upcoming short drama series “PTGF: Part Time Girlfriend.”

Rose plays Anisa, a part-time girlfriend hired by people who are lonely, looking for someone to talk to or simply want company. But what appears to be an easy job becomes more complicated as the story unfolds, with Anisa’s true intentions gradually coming into question.

“Malinaw naman kay Anisa kung ano talaga ang purpose niya. Para sa kanya work lang talaga ang ginagawa niya, walang emotions or feelings involved,” Rose said of her character.

The story follows Jet, played by Ron Angeles, who heads to Baguio after his fiancée becomes a runaway bride. As he tries to deal with his heartbreak and loneliness, he encounters an online service offering companionship and eventually meets Anisa.

For Rose, the darker and psychologically layered story was part of the appeal.

“Actually, itong ganitong genre talaga ‘yong mga nae-enjoy kong gawin. Like ‘Gone Girl’ or ‘You,’ mga ganyang klaseng stories,” she shared.

While Rose enjoyed playing Anisa, she admitted that the limited preparation time and working with new co-stars presented a challenge. Her previous collaboration with director Easy Ferrer, however, helped her adjust to his vision for the scenes.

Beyond the complicated relationships in the series, Rose hopes viewers will also see a warning about losing themselves in the search for love and companionship.

“Number one, ‘wag magmahal nang sobra na nakakalimutan mo na ‘yong sarili mo. Palagi kang magtira para sa sarili mo,” she said.

She also urged viewers to be more careful when meeting people through dating apps or online platforms. “Kilalanin ninyo nang mabuti ang mga taong kinakausap n’yo. Hindi porke’t mabait siya sa harapan mo ibig sabihin kilala mo na talaga siya.”

“PTGF: Part Time Girlfriend” also stars Johannes Rissler and Drey Brown. The series premieres September 12 on OKDrama’s YouTube channel, Beetzee Play and Shopee Drama.
