Singer-songwriter inspires at FILSCAP showcase, urges young artists to keep believing in their craft.
“Huwag na huwag niyong susukuan ang sarili niyo.”
This was the message of singer-songwriter Angela Ken as she took the stage at Songwriter’s Night Select 2026, inspiring aspiring musicians while performing her original hits “Kulimlim,” “Baka Bukas,” and “Ako Naman Muna.”
Held as part of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, the event celebrates the vital role of songwriters in shaping and sustaining the Philippine music industry.
As one of the featured performers, Angela encouraged young artists in the audience to keep believing in themselves despite challenges.
“Kasi as long as hindi niyo sinusukuan ang sarili niyo, makakarating kayo,” she said.
Organized by FILSCAP, Songwriter’s Night Select 2026 also spotlighted 15 emerging songwriters from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, giving them a platform to perform their original compositions and connect with a wider audience.
The featured songwriters, listed alphabetically, are AUXJUMP, Aw’te Amakeh, Eric Diao, Guava, Ivee Madamba, Jeffrey Yumol, Maria Perion, Maric Gavino, Off to Aurora, Roli Manalo, Si Mau ug J, Thon Monastrial, Toni Panagu, Veej, and Wyanet.
Through initiatives like this, FILSCAP continues to champion the next generation of Filipino songwriters, supporting their growth while helping shape the future of Original Pilipino Music.
