The OPM Power Diva embraces unexpected collaborations and a more playful side for her 15th anniversary concert.

There comes a point in every long career when success quietly becomes routine. People stop wondering what you’ll do next because they already think they know the answer.

For Angeline Quinto, that answer has stayed remarkably consistent for the past 15 years. Hand her a microphone, the biggest ballad of the night, and she’ll leave audiences hanging on every note. Since winning “Star Power,” she has built a career defined by soaring vocals, earning the title of OPM’s “Power Diva.”

But even the strongest reputation can become familiar. Audiences grow comfortable expecting the same version of an artist, performance after performance.

Listening to Angeline talk about “AQUINSE,” her 15th anniversary concert happening on August 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, it quickly becomes clear that this milestone isn’t about proving she can still sing. Fifteen years have already answered that question. This time, she’s asking a different one: what happens when she lets herself have fun?

Angeline finally says, ‘Why not?’

Instead of filling the lineup with the expected names, Angeline built a concert that feels like a reflection of her personality. Some guests represent the people who have walked beside her since the beginning, while others come from the artists currently filling her playlists. Together, they paint a fuller picture of who Angeline is beyond the ballads.

For Erik Santos, the invitation almost speaks for itself. Years of unforgettable duets have made the two nearly inseparable in the minds of OPM fans. His appearance feels less like a special guest slot and more like welcoming an old friend back to the stage where they belong.

Then the lineup takes a turn no one quite expects. Viñas De Luxe, Brigiding, and Precious Paula Nicole weren’t invited simply to surprise audiences—they’re artists Angeline genuinely admires.

“Madami akong mga kaibigan na nagda-drag at fan talaga ako ng mga draga,” she shared, adding that many of her supporters are drag queens. She even revealed she was once invited to perform in drag herself, though the opportunity never happened. “So bakit hindi natin gawin sa Araneta Coliseum?” she teased, coyly responding with an “Abangan” when asked if audiences might finally see that side of her.

The surprises don’t stop there. Among the night’s guests is Skusta Clee, a collaboration that might seem unexpected for someone best known for emotional ballads. But Angeline quickly explained that rap has always been part of her playlist.

“Fan talaga ako ng rap industry. Fan ako ng Salbakuta, ni Francis M., ni Gloc-9.” She laughed as she admitted that her husband, Nonrev Daquina, helped turn her into a Skusta fan as well.

“Si Nonrev, idol niya si Skusta ngayon kaya, ‘di ba, why not? LSS ko nga ngayon yung ‘Lagabog’ e.”

It’s a small confession, but one that makes Angeline feel refreshingly relatable. Beyond the powerhouse vocals is someone whose music taste shifts just like everyone else’s—sometimes because of the people she loves most.

That same generosity appears when she talks about “It’s Showtime’s” Baby Dolls. Before they became one of social media’s newest viral acts, Angeline was already helping promote their song “Ikembot Mo” through TikTok.

“Nakakatuwa lang ngayon kasi ang dami-dami na nilang streams. Sumisikat na sila at talagang deserve ng Baby Dolls ‘yon.”

For her, inviting the group isn’t just about adding another high-energy performance to the concert. It’s about remembering what it feels like to be the newcomer waiting for someone to believe in you.

“Napakasarap din sa pakiramdam na makapagbigay ng platform para sa mga start-up artist dahil lahat naman tayo nagsimula diyan. Lahat tayo nangarap ding umangat, ‘di ba?”

Perhaps that’s the most telling thing Angeline shared with writers in a recent gathering. Even after 15 years at the top, she still sees herself in the artists who are only beginning their journey.

Angeline Quinto uses her 15th anniversary concert to give young artists like Baby Dolls a platform to shine.

Rediscovering the artist behind the voice

Long before audiences recognized Angeline for effortless high notes, she loved to dance. So when she revealed she’d be performing alongside the Baby Dolls—and had returned to dance rehearsals—it didn’t sound like she was trying something new. It sounded like she was reconnecting with a part of herself that had been waiting patiently backstage.

That creative freedom, however, comes with discipline. Three days before every major performance, she rests her voice. Two hours before stepping onstage, beef and protein are essential, while nuts and sweets are strictly avoided. Even as she’s embracing a more playful side, the performer behind the scenes remains as meticulous as ever.

When asked how she hopes people will remember her after 15 years, Angeline didn’t point to sold-out arenas, chart-topping hits, or vocal achievements.

“Hindi lang isang magaling na singer, kung hindi isang taong may napakalaking pangarap at hindi natakot harapin ang malalaking pangarap na ‘yon.”

Maybe that’s what “AQUINSE” is really celebrating. Not just 15 successful years, but an artist who’s no longer confined by the expectations that came with them—someone who’s finally giving herself permission to surprise her audience, and perhaps, even herself.

The celebration continues on August 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Tickets available through TicketNet, with prices ranging from ₱1,014 for General Admission to ₱9,604 for SVIP, offering audiences a chance to witness Angeline Quinto mark 15 years in the music industry with a concert that promises to be as personal as it is unexpected.
