Basti called out—and eventually sent away—the heckler who shouted, “F*ck you, BBM,” and kept shouting.
Wolfgang frontman Basti Artadi spoke up about the viral video where he reprimanded and sent away a heckler during their concert in Davao.
“It’s 2026 and the world is stupid,” Basti said in an Instagram video on March 31. “We were there to make people smile, to bring people together, and for everyone to have a good time.”
At the same time, their band is paying tribute to “a very important person”: their late bassist, Mon Legaspi. “A couple of people chose that moment to try and separate people, and that was bastos. Simple as that. It was bastos.” He then shrugged and made a face.
“It was bastos“
Basti called out people who are turning the viral video “into something that it isn’t.” He added, “It’s a political thing now, this and that. You’re just separating us some more. And you’re making Mon bastos again every time.”
He lamented how “everything is designed to separate us” and “make us hate each other.” Instead, he reminded everyone, “We should love each other.”
In the viral video, Basti was saying something when a heckler shouted, “F*ck you, BBM”—an apparent reference to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos. Davao is the bailiwick of his political ally-turned-rival, Vice President Sara Duterte.
Interrupted, Basti called the heckler out, saying, “We don’t give a sh*t about that tonight.” But the heckler went on, prompting Basti to threaten cutting the concert short.
The limit of “freedom of speech”
Later on, the heckler still wouldn’t stop, and Basti told him, “If you want to exercise your freedom of speech, go out into the f*cking hallways and do it there.” He then asked the heckler to be removed from the venue: “Get that f*cking guy out of here. Makulit ka, umalis ka na nga!”
Other OPM artists have also called out hecklers. In 2019, JK Labajo cursed at a heckler who was shouting, “I love you, Darren,” an apparent reference to his contemporary Darren Espanto.
Wolfgang frontman Basti Artadi clarified that his decision to eject a heckler in Davao was about respecting the memory of late bassist Mon Legaspi, not political censorship.
