BINI, SB19, and Sophia lead a rare Filipino-powered soundtrack as DreamWorks’ “Forgotten Island” brings Philippine mythology to a global audience.

BINI, SB19, and KATSEYE’s Sophia are among the Filipinos leading the soundtrack of DreamWorks Animation’s Philippine mythology-inspired film “Forgotten Island.

The film’s music lineup is stacked with Filipino and Filipino-American talent—marking a rare moment where representation extends beyond casting and into sound.

According to Variety, BINI will perform “A Parallel World,” produced by Nathan Matthew David and Shawn Wasabi. Universal Pictures’ Film Music Senior Vice President Angela Leus said the group was on her radar “very early on.”

Sophia will deliver a rendition of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart”—tied to the emotional arc of lead characters Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Liza Soberano).

“It was important for us to use the original INXS recording… but as you see them grow, that’s where the idea to bring in Sophia Laforteza from Katseye — who’s a badass — came from,” Leus said.

SB19 will reinterpret Francis Magalona’s iconic “Mga Kababayan.”

Meanwhile, Filipino-American rappers Ruby Ibarra and Carl Angelo will team up for “Salbahae Ako.”

Lea Salonga, who voices the The Dreaded Manananggal, also created vocalizations “to bring musicality to the film.”

“Watching Lea Salonga work — she’s such a pro and a badass,” Leus said.

Composer Nathan Matthew David said the soundtrack blends ’80s pop and hip-hop influences with traditional Filipino sounds.

As the story shifts into the mythical island of Nakali, the music evolves to include indigenous instruments like chanters, the Las Piñas bamboo organ, and a Filipino choir singing Tagalog phrases. The gandingan from Southern Philippines will also be used for Salonga’s character.

The film also features a Filipino-heavy voice cast, including Dolly de Leon, Manny Jacinto, and Jo Koy.

“Forgotten Island” premieres in Philippine cinemas on September 23 and in United States theaters on September 25.
