Actress recalls heartfelt memories of Comedy King Dolphy as cast reunites for special Manila screening ahead of June 17 cinema release.
Claudine Barretto became very emotional during the special screening of “Home Along Da Riles: Da Reunion” at the Metropolitan Theater on June 1.
When radar Entertainment interviewed the actress after the screening, she said she felt the Comedy King’s presence while they were watching the movie.
“Ang tagal naming magka-holding hands ni Tita Nanay (Nova Villa) habang pinapanood, ang saya namin talaga. Parang nafi-feel namin ‘yong presence ni Tatay (Dolphy).”
The event, sponsored by the local government unit of Manila, was to commemorate Dolphy’s 14th death anniversary. According to his son Vandolph Quizon, the screening was held in Manila to honor his father, who was born and grew up in Tondo.
Also present were Vandolph’s Jenny and son Vitto, Boy 2 Quizon, Dang Cruz, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Cita Astals, and Gio Alvarez.
Claudine admitted that before she went to the venue, she really felt nervous. She also expressed her admiration for how Boy 2 directed the movie, which will be shown on June 17 in theaters nationwide.
“Talagang very sentimental and emotional. Bago ako pumunta dito talagang ninenerbiyos ako. This is the first time na pinanood namin ‘yong pelikula ng buo,” she beamed. “Ang galing ni Boy 2. I’m so proud of my family dito sa Home Along.”

Claudine remembered good memories of how the Comedy King became their shoulder to cry on whenever one of them on the set was facing a problem. “I think ‘yong kada week namin sa taping, kung sino ang may problema sa amin, dine-date niya kami kasama kapag dinner break,” she recalled.
Right now, Claudine has just finished “Carlos Caparas: Totoy Bato” on TV5, where she was paired up again with her ex-boyfriend Mark Anthony Fernandez.
The actress has only good words for Mark. “I love working with him again. We’re also doing ‘I Love You Ex.’ ‘Di lang matuloy-tuloy. I think next week magre-resume na kami ng shooting,” she reported. “Feeling ko mas naging gwapo pa si Mark ngayon. Wala namang nagbago, mabait pa rin.”

One of the biggest heartbreaks that Claudine is facing right now is the passing of her mom, Inday Barretto last January. She shared that until now, she is still having a hard time accepting that the matriarch of the Barretto family is gone.
“Nag-stop muna ako after ‘Totoy Bato’ kasi nalulungkot ako. Buti na lang I visited my best friend in Thailand,” she began. “Tanggap ko na ba? ‘Di pa. Ngayon pa lang medyo tinatamaan, lately pa lang. Kaya nga ilang gabi nang walang tulog at kain.”
“Home Along Da Riles: Da Reunion” hits cinemas nationwide on June 17.
