Netizens question awards as Ivana wins public service honors over Jessica Soho, Vicky Morales.

The inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards is drawing backlash online after Ivana Alawi tied with veteran journalist Kara David for Best Host for Public Service and also won Best Public Service Show.

The results quickly sparked debate, with many questioning how Alawi secured a win in a category that included award-winning broadcast journalists Jessica Soho and Vicky Morales, alongside David.

“Seriously FAMAS? Ivana Alawi tied with Kara David for Best Host for Public Service? You’re really shameless,” one netizen wrote.

Others pointed out that while Alawi is known for her charitable content, she has also faced criticism over alleged “poverty porn.”

Several users also questioned why Soho and Morales—both widely recognized for decades of public service journalism—did not take home the award.

“What do you mean Jessica Soho and Vicky Morales were also nominated in the same award that Ivana Alawi won?” one post read. Another added, “FAMAS is just losing its credibility by catering to vloggers in a Broadcast Arts Awards Night.”

Despite the backlash, Alawi thanked her supporters and said she would continue using her platform to help others.

As of writing, FAMAS has yet to respond to the criticism.
