Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Multimedia Princess Nadine Lustre team up for the first time in “Love Siargao,” a 26-episode Viu Original series set against the stun ning backdrop of Siargao Island.
Actress Nadine Lustre, who has made Siargao Island her second home, has confessed that she is a victim of the island’s curse.
“I would say that the story is also very close to my heart kasi isa po ako sa biktima ng curse,” Lustre shared, referring to the plot of her latest series, “Love Siargao,” which also features actor Alden Richards.
Opposing worlds: Jao vs. Kara
The series revolves around the intriguing “Siargao Curse,” an island legend suggesting that those who set foot on its shores will either stay forever or fall hopelessly in love.
Lustre considers Siargao her second home because her life there is intentional and rooted. She co-owns the plant-based restaurant Ver De Siargao with boyfriend, Christophe Bariou. She also works on sustainability-driven ventures like Dehusk, and spends long stretches living on the island, away from showbiz pressure.
“And I’m so happy that I’m finally doing another series kasi it’s been a long time,” Lustre shared in an interview posted by Viu on social media.
Filmed in the country’s surfing capital, the 26-episode series is set to premiere in the second quarter of 2026, capturing the beauty of its pristine beaches and vibrant local culture.
“I’ve been looking forward to working with Nadine on this project. I’ve seen a lot of your work Nads, and I can’t imagine parang being part of this project with you. It’s an honor for me, so maraming salamat,” Richards pointed out.
In the series, Richards stars as Jao, a man whose principles are tested by the island’s mystic pull, while Lustre plays Kara, a woman whose perspective on the island’s lore sharply contrasts his. As their opposing views collide, the two are drawn into a passionate love story filled with challenges that test their fate.
A partnership between Viva and Viu
Through its partnership with Viva Entertainment, Viu promises viewers a breathtaking showcase of Siargao’s famous beaches and a one-of-a-kind island experience in this new original series.
Richards continues to demonstrate his versatility, having recently directed and starred in the 2025 film “Out of Order,” alongside Heaven Peralejo and Nonie Buencamino. He is also set to co-produce and play a villainous role in the international film “Big Tiger.”
Lustre, meanwhile, earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Call Me Mother.”
Before their individual successes, Lustre was part of the popular love team JaDine, while Richards was one half of AlDub.
“Love Siargao” marks their first-ever acting project together, promising a fresh on-screen chemistry against the captivating backdrop of one of the Philippines’ most iconic islands.
I’ve seen a lot of your work, [Nadine], and I can’t imagine parang being part of this project with you. It’s an honor for me.
