Beyond the halls of the Manila city council and the laugh tracks of ‘Home Along Da Riles,’ a chance encounter reveals the quiet, solitary life Cita Astals leads today.
Does anyone remember Cita Astals, who played the boss of Dolphy’s Kevin Kosme in the iconic ’90s sitcom “Home Along Da Riles“? A recent vlog has brought the former actress back into public view—this time, far from her showbiz days.
An April 22 YouTube video by Bench TV shows Cita in a chance encounter at a carinderia. Initially reserved and cautious, she questioned the group’s intentions before gradually opening up about her life after leaving the spotlight.
She noted that her last public appearance was during a May 2024 reunion with the “Home Along da Riles” cast. Asked who she’s living with, she said, “Wala, ako lang. Saka ‘yong dalawang aso ko. Dating tatlo, kaya lang, namatay ‘yong isa.” As to where her loved ones are, “Malayo dito.”
She also spoke briefly about her past work, including a stint as a consultant at the Manila city government. “Dito kay Isko, wala, di na ako kinuha,” she said, referring to incumbent mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso. She didn’t give a clear answer about her current source of income.
Cita also mentioned having written a history book years ago, but claimed it was never published. She also alluded to financial struggles, saying she has debts while others also owe her money.
Bench TV asked if they could visit her home, but she declined. Still, they expressed intention to send her in-kind help and even set up her own vlogging channel if she wanted.
In the end, he extended Cita financial assistance for daily expenses, visibly lifting her mood. They vowed to go back to bring her grocery items and accompany her to the parlor.
Cita rose to fame through her role as Hillary Lagdameo in “Home Along da Riles,” portraying an understanding and sympathetic boss in a placement agency. According to IMDb, she also appeared in several ’90s titles, including “Asero,” “Shake, Rattle, and Roll V,” “Magic Kombat,” “Totoy Mola,” and “Manalo, Matalo, Mahal Kita.”
In the mid-90s, she stepped away from showbiz to enter politics, serving multiple terms as a Manila city councilor and later running for vice mayor.
In December 2024, she reunited with some of her “Home Along da Riles” co-stars on the game show Family Feud Philippines.
From commanding the screen as Hillary Lagdameo to serving the public in Manila, Cita Astals was a ’90s powerhouse. Now, a viral vlog reveals the former actress navigating life’s current challenges with her loyal dogs by her side.
