Ice Seguerra marks mom’s death anniversary with an emotional tribute, recalling heartbreaking final moments.
A year after the passing of his mother, Caridad Yamson Seguerra, Ice Seguerra opened his heart in a deeply emotional social media post, recalling the heartbreaking final hours they spent together and the lingering void left by her absence.
Addressing his late mother directly, Ice recounted receiving a distress call from her around the same time a year ago. He shared how she could no longer speak and could only groan in pain from severe stomach discomfort. Thinking it was another medical emergency that would soon pass, he advised her to take her medicine while asking a family member to check on her before rushing her to the emergency room.
“Hindi naman bago sa atin na ma-ER ka. Kaya sa utak ko, worst-case scenario noon, maa-admit ka ng ilang araw tapos okay na ulit,” he wrote.
But what he believed would be another routine hospital visit became the family’s greatest heartbreak.
“Hindi ko inakala na ’yun na pala ’yung huling araw na makakasama kita. Walang dalawang oras, wala ka na.”
For decades, the public witnessed the close bond between Ice and his mother. Caridad was a constant source of support throughout every stage of her child’s career—from cheering him on during his winning stint in “Little Miss Philippines,” to standing behind him as he became one of the country’s most beloved child stars and a longtime “Eat Bulaga!” host. She continued to be his steadfast supporter as Ice built a successful music career and, in recent years, expanded into directing and other creative pursuits.
Ice admitted that while the memories remain fresh in his mind and heart, time has slowly changed how he carries his grief. He shared that he no longer cries all the time and has even learned to joke about his mother’s passing. Yet despite that, the longing has never faded.
“Miss na miss kita at parati kitang iniisip,” he wrote.
The singer also reflected on the everyday moments he misses most—from seeing his mother in person, eating the meals she lovingly prepared, to feeling her comforting massages.
“I know you’re never gone, alam kong kasama kita parati. Pero iba pa rin eh.”
Ending his tribute, Ice expressed comfort in believing that his mother has found peace in heaven while reaffirming his enduring love for her.
“Miss kita, mama. Palagi. Pero alam kong iba na ang happiness mo ngayon sa langit. Kaya happy 1st anniversary in heaven. Mahal na mahal kita.”
The heartfelt message resonated with many netizens, who offered prayers and words of comfort as Ice marked the first anniversary of a loss that continues to shape his life.
